The Academy of South Florida, Inc. presents the CompTIA Security+ 2008 Boot Camp. CompTIA Security+ 2008 is the primary course you will need to take if your job responsibilities include securing network services, network devices, and network traffic. It is also the main course you will take to prepare for the CompTIA Securty+ (2008 Edition) Certification examination.
About the CompTIA Security+ 2008 Certification:
In this course you will build on your knowledge and professional experience with computer hardware, operating systems, and networks as you acquire the specific skills required to implement basic security services on any type of computer network.
This course is targeted toward an IT Professional who has networking and administrative skills in Windows-based TCP/IP networks and familiarity with other operating systems, such as OS X, Unix, or Linux, and who wants to further a career in IT by acquring a foundational knowledge of security topics; prepare for the CompTIA Security+ Certification examination; or use Security+ as the foundation for advanced security certifications or career roles.
Prerequisites:
Basic Windows skills and fundamental understanding of computer and networking concepts are required.
A+ and Network+, or equivalent knowledge, and six to nine months experience in networking, including experience configuring and managing TCP/IP, are strongly recommended.
Additional introductory courses or work experience in application development and programming or in network and operating system administration for any software platform or system are helpful but not required.
The course materials, lectures, and lab exercises are in English. To benefit fully from our instruction, students need an understanding of the English language and completion of the prerequisites.

- Five (5) full days of Intensive instruction, labs and review with an experienced Subject Matter Expert on PC troubleshooting and TCP/IP networking.
- Hands-on practice and skills development on real Dell Computers and servers.

- Custom Courseware and exceptional Practice Tests,
- 3 exam vouchers, covering all of the CompTIA Security+ 2008 exams, and
- Self Test™, Transcender® or MeasureUp Testing Software.
All Exams are delivered at the Training Center , which is an authorized VUE Testing Center . We will provide a large number of testing stations dedicated to the bootcamp. A test administrator will be available throughout the day, and in the evening, to register you for the tests.
You will receive up to 3 exam vouchers. No additional payment is necessary for the vouchers. The vouchers must be used during the CompTIA Security+ 2008 Boot Camp itself and will expire at the end of the bootcamp . Having the extra vouchers at no cost can make all the difference. It makes you more confident and aggressive in test-taking because you are not losing money if you don't pass on your first attempt.
The exam is delivered at the training center, which is an authorizedVUE TestingCenter. We will provide a large number of testing stations dedicated to the boot camp. A test administrator will be available throughout the day, and in the evening, to register you for the tests.

- 8:15 am to 9:00 am Breakfast
- 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Instruction/Lecture/Lab
- 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm Lunch
- 1:30pm to 5:30pm Instruction/Hands-on Labs
- 5:30pm to 7:30pm Dinner and Relaxation
- 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm Practice Drills/Independent Home Study
