MAYOR CARLOS ALVAREZ
TO HOLD WIRELESS MIAMI-DADE TOWN HALL
MEETING
(MIAMI, September 12, 2006)
– Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez is hosting a town hall meeting on
Thursday, September 21, 2006, at 7:00 p.m., at Miami Senior High School, located
at 2450 SW 1st Street, to discuss and get input from the
public on his Wireless Miami-Dade Initiative, which seeks to offer low-cost,
high-speed internet access throughout the 2,000 square miles that make up
Miami-Dade County. Mayor Alvarez
will be joined by Ana Rivas Logan, Miami-Dade Public School Board Member and a
member of the Wireless Steering Committee; and William D. Talbert III, President
and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and Chairman of the
Wireless Steering Committee.
Wireless Miami-Dade can offer
countless benefits to residents, visitors and businesses. It can make Miami-Dade County more technologically appealing to
companies seeking to relocate, strengthen education, and improve government
services, including traffic flow and public safety.
“As we press forward with this
initiative, it is important we hear from residents regarding what they would
like see and what their concerns are with regard to wireless technology,” said
Mayor Carlos Alvarez. “The upcoming
town hall meeting is the place where residents can help local government develop
a roadmap and recommend a plan of action for a Wireless
Miami-Dade.”
